Free Agency "Demand" column

I've been keeping a close eye on a few free agents I want to sign, and like most posts I've read things get a lot more reasonable after a week or so into the FA period. Though I am mad that I failed an owner goal because Nelson Cruz wanted 5 years $187 million for an extension.

The particular FA in question is Andrelton Simmons. He started out demanding 13 million per year for 7 years, and I initially offered a contract of 2/24. He came back a few days later "willing to revisit" and now I see that his demand number in the Free Agent tab is down to $5,650,000, which I would sign him for 2 years in a heartbeat at that rate.

My question is, is that the figure he's really looking for on an AAV basis? When I go into the offer contract screen it just brings up my last offer, not what he wants. I don't want to offer a terrible contract and kill negotiations.
