My "favorite" owner goal one time was to acquire a power hitter. Since I usually play at the Royals and have financial limitations, I couldn't just overpay for anyone. I decided to be shrewd and traded for Austin Meadows, and actually got quite a haul from Tampa in the process (who knew Whit Merrifield was THAT valuable?!?).

Meadows played the entire season with KC and hit 47 home runs, led the league in OPS and second in WAR. But the owner goal was not satisfied, not even in the yellow category. No, it was in the red category. I have no idea how that goal wasn't completed.

Of course, this is the same game that has owner goals that will say "increase your home runs from the previous year," and while it seems like an easy goal, it actually has nothing to do with increasing your home runs from the previous year. No, you actually have to finish higher in the team rankings. So even if you hit 100, and then the next year hit 200, if your overall league rank in HR isn't improved, you failed your goal. Who writes this code?
