Gardner will now retire a Yankee, which is welcome news (despite a dim recollection of what I said earlier in this thread). Sometimes a clubhouse presence is much more valuable than a player's on-field performance. Frazier will likely start in LF with Gardner a backup but, at age 38, this is the way that Gardner wants to finish his career. A lifelong Yankee.
