Setting Up An Online League
Steam is telling me I've spent over 1k hours on OOTP 21 and it's likely my favorite game of all time now. I've been running a historical sim w/dev turned on starting in 1984 and it's been a blast. I have some folks now who want me to run an online league and I couldn't really find specific answers so figured I'd post them here. I've never participated, let alone run an online league so while I'm very well versed now utilizing in game solo mode stuff, I'm a total novice when it comes to online play.
1. If we want to have say a dozen or more people all participate in an online league starting from 1984 or something how does that work from a practical perspective? Does everyone need a copy of OOTP to save their files and then they upload them somewhere for others in the league to consume/overwrite their current file with?
2. I've seen some discussions where not everyone needs to own a copy but if that's the case is it then on the commish to make every microtransaction for them and then upload the file?
3. Is it beneficial to pay for a nice site that we can use for our league that can manage some of the stuff? What part do they typically manage and what part would the commish still need to take responsibility for?
If it's easier, is there an overarching tutorial that goes into how it typically works and how much effort is needed from both the commish(es) and the other users?
Thanks so much!
