Dynamo's hire World Series Winning GM

Today the owner of the Detroit Dynamo's Eddie Thompson announced the hiring of a new General Manager for the struggling franchise. Thompson "Today we are very proud to announce the hiring of DD Martin and welcome him to our club. DD's reputation and success in Cleveland are well known and his process of rebuilding the Foresters saw them win it all last year. That is something that we too want to do once again. Under DD's leadership, the ownership group here in Detroit and legendary player and former manager George Theobald here agrees, that we have found the right man for the job.

So Martin comes to Detroit after a stunning announcement of his resignation on Monday in Cleveland. Martin stated at the announcement of his hiring that "He is grateful for the opportunity to lead this great franchise. While it might not happen this year or even next, he is committed with this great ownership team of once again seeing the Dynamo's rule the Federal Association and win the World Series once again"

Martin did urge caution though as it will take some time to rebuild the minor league system as the team has very few rated prospects and the team is definitely aging on the field. He did state that it will likely get worse before it turns around and gets better and that he hopes the fans will have patience with him and know that he has a plan.

So we continue on with our Figment Baseball League - FABL career with a move to Detroit. The challenge of rebuilding this once proud franchise will be a real big chore. The minor league system is without any real top notch prospects (the highest rated one is 1B Bill Moore who just cracked the top 100 checking in at #98. After taht there is only 1 other top 200 rated player and only a total of 9 that are rated in the top 300 prospects. The cupboard is really pretty bare.

The team does have a few really good ballplayers in OF Art Wheeler who is just 27. And while he is a great hitter, his bat doesn't really play all that well here at Thompson Field as it heavily favors right handed hitters. So while we decide what to with Wheeler there are some other pieces we will be looking at as well.

Below is the recent history in Detroit and it doesn't look that bad but the roof is definitely on fire. The team would not compete this year and while they are only 3.5 games out right now, that deficit will only increase as the weeks and games go on.
Below a look at Thompson Field and the Dynamo's History
