6 May 2299 - Atom Trades Buchanan for County Crossing's Gentleman, Thompson

The Atom Cats swapped 25-year-old RHP Old Buck Buchanan and a 3rd round draft pick for 27-year-old LF Machete Thompson and 28-year-old RHP Boss Gentleman of the Bloodbugs after what County Crossing officials would only characterize as "difficult" negotiations.

This season Old Buck Buchanan has been credited with 3 saves. In 9 relief appearances and 9.2 innings pitched, he has a 0-3 won-lost mark, 11.17 ERA and 12 strikeouts.

This year Gentleman has posted a record of 1 win and 2 losses with a 3.60 ERA. He has appeared in 6 games and struck out 14 in 30 innings.

6 May 2299 - 5-Hit Blitz by Easy Town's Tophat

Carlos Tophat had an answer for everything the County Crossing Bloodbugs threw at him today at Beantown Brewery Stadium. The Easy Town second baseman went 5-for-5 in the game to put his name in the record book and put the Assaultrons on top, 13-4.

Summing up his batting philosophy to BNN writers after the game, Tophat said, "I just see the ball and I hit it."

Carlos Tophat singled in the 2nd, doubled in the 3rd, hit an RBI double in the 4th, hit an RBI double in the 5th and singled in the 7th.

In 18 games this season Tophat is batting .333 with 24 hits and no home runs. He has scored 8 runs and driven in 8.

Tophat wasn't the only Assaultrons player getting offensive. A total of six players had at least two hits as Easy Town collected 20 on the day. Joe Ransom was 2 for 3 with a triple, a home run, two walks, two runs, and three RBI.

David Hill (1-3) picked up his first win on the season, allowing four earned runs on nine hits with five walks and three strikeouts in 7.1 innings. Easy Town is now 9-15.

6 May 2299 - Yao Guai Win, Arch goes 3-for-4

The FHE Yao Guai topped the Oberland T-51s by the score of 8-5, with the largest share of the credit going to center fielder Noah Arch. Arch went 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3 for the Yao Guai. The winner in relief was Tommie Lightbulb after Ali Crummie left with an injury. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 4 hits in 4.2 innings. He now owns a record of 1-0. The triumph puts FHE at 12-12 for the season.

The Yao Guai got an important contribution from left fielder Zack Mower, who in the bottom of the fourth punched a full-count fastball into center for a run-scoring double. It was his 2nd double of the season and put the Yao Guai ahead, 3-1.

"We took advantage of our opportunities," Mower told the FHE Citizen. "It's as simple as that."

Sheng Kawolski (2-2) struggled yet again in a surprising season for Oberland pitching. In 5.0 innings, he allowed five earned runs on nine hits with two walks and eight strikeouts.

6 May 2299 - Iddings, Hancocks Get 4-1 Win

Goodneighbor starter Bruce Iddings had a strong outing against the Atom Cats at Coolest Field in Town. The left-hander was a big part of his team's 4-1 win. Bus Paula collected his 8th save. The Hancocks have an impressive 17-7 record.

Iddings (4-2) was effective against the Cats, seldom allowing a hard-hit ball. The left-hander limited Atom to just 1 run on 4 hits over 8 innings.

"Getting ahead of the hitters was the key," said Iddings.

6 May 2299 - Silver Shroud Hang 5-1 Loss on Synths

Fort Hagen Silver Shroud pitcher Derek Green was in fine form, leading his team past the Lexington Synths, 5-1. The win elevated the Silver Shroud to 17-7.

Fort Hagen left fielder Andrew Nuka contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With two down, he hit a cutter into left field for a 2-run single. It was his 34th hit of the season and put the Silver Shroud ahead, 4-0. Eight different Shroud players each had one hit.

"It was just a matter of executing," said Fort Hagen manager Mark Andersen.

6 May 2299 - Four Leafs Beat Party Boys, 8-5

The home crowd had a good time watching the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys and Finch Farm Four Leafs get after it.

The Finch Farm Four Leafs took Nordhagen Beach pitcher Aaron Demps's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Finch Family Park. The final score had Finch Farm getting past the Party Boys, 8-5. Demps went 6 innings and allowed 4 runs, striking out 8. Blaine Phrasemaker, the winner, goes to 3-3. He allowed 3 runs on 6 hits, with no walks and 5 strikeouts over 6 innings. Steve Warwar got the save, the 4th for him this season.

The Four Leafs got a big hit from third baseman Peter Tatoeater. In the bottom of the sixth, Tatoeater smacked a 2-run double off Nordhagen Beach pitcher Aaron Demps. It was his 10th double of the season. Suddenly, the Four Leafs were ahead, 4-3.

"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Tatoeater told a Finch Farm Citizen reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax."

The third-place Four Leafs are 10-14. Nordhagen Beach is 17-7.

6 May 2299 - Swatters Turn Back Ninjas, 6-4

Behind a solid performance from first baseman Oren Gep, the Diamond City Swatters defeated the Egret Ninjas, 6-4. Gep went 3 for 4 with a double and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times for the Swatters. Diamond City pitcher Mark Stuhlsatz got the win, upping his record to 5-0. Nick Poppa got the loss. Diamond City has run its win streak to 5 in a row.

Early in the game, catcher Jazz Stockton had a 2-run double for Diamond City. It was his 7th double of the season and put the Swatters on top, 2-1.

Gep told a Diamond City News reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win. "I'm starting to feel like a player in this league," he said. Gep is batting .273 with three home runs and 13 RBI.
