Walkers news: April 12 -- St. Louis 8, Rockford 5
Record: 5-2, 2nd (Tied/w. Cedar Rapids), 2 GB Des Moines
Trailing 5-3, St. Louis busted loose for five runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to carry it to an 8-5 win over Rockford at Busch Stadium (1997).
Outside of a one-out walk to Jose Segura, all of the damage came with two outs.
Rick Scott provided the first blow, greeting reliever, and former Walkers ace Alex Faedo, with a two-run homer to tie the game.
He was the first of six consecutive St. Louis batters to reach base.
In that span, Jared Thomas broke the tie with an RBI double.
Jose Ramirez drove in the final two runs with a single.
Faedo was on the mound for all of the runs.
Earlier, the Walkers' Daniel Becerra had broken out of an early-season slump with a pair of solo homers.
Still, the Lightning held a 5-3 late in game, mainly thanks to a three-run homer from Raynel Delgado off Andres Hernandez with two outs in the sixth.
Walkers starter Izzy San Juan worked 5.2 innings, allowing four runs on four hits.
Hernandez relieved San Juan in the sixth, and allowed the Delgado homer, the first batter he faced.
Hernandez than recorded the first two outs of the seventh.
Ricky Cisneros (2-0) got the final out of the seventh, and pitched a scoreless eighth.
Nick Ruffalo earned his first major league save with a 1-2-3 ninth.
