The automatic expansion protected player selection process appears to be broken right now.
I've tried simming this multiple times and have ended up with what appears to be much more than the 7 forwards and 3 defenders protected from each team. When choosing who to protect from my team if I'm a preexisting team, the AI successfully selects more or less my entire team (minus extra goalies). If I manually protect players, it will prevent me from choosing more than 7, but at any time I can ask my assistant and it will populate basically the entire team. I am also allowed to unprotect players with NMCs. Looking into other teams, they too appear to be able to protect more than the maximum number of players.
Also, Vegas is not exempt from the draft in game but they should be.
