Yes, this is an unfortunate problem with the UI for Team Statistics. Instead of going into your league's Statistics, do this instead:
League menu > Reports & Info > League Reports Home
Then choose the Batting, Pitching or Fielding reports from the LINKS portion of the right sidebar. When you get into those reports, you can click on any column heading to sort by that column.
The Team Statistics UI really needs to be updated to do the same thing.
