Non-Pitcher of the Year Winning MVP

I've never seen this before! I have two pitchers. One, George Suggs, who took home Pitcher of the Year (also Rookie of the Year) and Edward Nolan, who took home MVP. Has anyone else seen something like this? Nolan isn't a two way player (if he was it would make sense for him winning MVP), but his OPS+ was about 15 points better and won Silver Slugger for pitcher.

Here was the voting tallies:
Rookie of the Year: Suggs (7, 48); Nolan (5, 46)
Pitcher of the Year: Suggs (7, 67); Nolan (4, 60)
Most Valuable Player: Nolan (4, 115); Suggs (4, 113)
