Drafted players temporarily go into the Designated for Assignment area of team rosters and transactions, under the tab called Waivers and DFA. They can be there for up to 7 days by default. Teams can then assign those players to the active roster, assign them to a minor league roster, arrange a trade, or release them. If they need to create room to assign them, they will likely make those moves during the DFA period.
