At the end of the season was going through my roster seeing who would be open to an extension and my Captain who also has been my closer for the past 7 seasons just helped me win the off-season. with 1 more year left on his existing contract (at 2.6M), he just agreed to a 2 year extension for 1.65M total...that's 900k in 2049 and 750k in 2050. Even if he starts to decline (he'll be playing 2048 at age 35), I'm more than willing to keep him in the bullpen in some capacity for those 2 additional years at that price. honestly the first time I've seen a player take that much less with a year still left on his existing contract.
