Union Hope center fielder Merv Fireman contributed to his team's 9-4 win over the Breakheart Banks Behemoths. Josh Warner picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-0. Kitty Steppe was tagged with the loss. With the victory, the Lifegivers upped their record to 34-31.

The Lifegivers got an important contribution from shortstop Frank Hermit, who in the bottom of the fourth knocked a 1-2 curveball into right for a run-scoring double. It was his 5th double of the season and put the Lifegivers ahead, 6-4.

"We maximized our offense today," said Union Hope skipper Greg Tannenbaum. "That makes everyone's life easier."

The game was at a stalemate until right fielder Steve Mech came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Eastlake pitcher Homie Foster, he hit a 0-2 curveball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Cabot House on top, 9-8.

"Hustle and hard work is a big part of our success," said Hawkins. "Those qualities define our team."
