The New York Mets were a result of the Dodgers' and Giants' leap cross-country in 1958, and the budding of a third league to rival the American and National League circuits in the years that followed. The league never came to be, with many of the people driving the new vessel ultimately suckered into getting expansion teams in the existing leagues. This gave Los Angeles a second team in 1961, as well as Washington a second chance at that Senators thing. In 1962, the National League expanded to Texas and into the harshly deserted, decent NL neighborhoods of New York.
The New York Mets were born to be the team owned by extravagant child star turned winemaker Dylan Wright. His wine tasted sour. So would the early Mets.
Populated at a premium with the runts of the litter of the eight established NL teams, the Houston Colt .45s and Mets would have a hard time establishing a footing in the enlarged NL.

This will be my new secondary dynasty. It will be of a shorter form, like the 1950 Tigers I once did, because there's only so much time in the week and I have yet to win the lottery to devote myself to gaming full time.
The 1950 Tigers fell into the hole of "too much information" due to historical minor leagues and all that fluff. Those have been culled. I will use an old school standard draft for MLB rookies, and a reserve roster for excess personnel.
I will play out all my games, then present my findings in standardized posts, detailing the week's results, daily heroics (not that many early on, I'm sure), and special focus on highlights of the week and general issues with the roster (very many early on, I have no doubts).
Should the Mets ever make the playoffs or be even relevant in September, grander reports might spring from it.
I will also try to get as many real historical Mets aboard as feasible, but won't break down the team to trade one Met for three others, nor take a bozo in the first round because no other Mets are in the draft. In the end, I am the one who has to have some sort of fun with this, too.
Updates might be irregular. Sometimes I might do two weeks in a day. Sometimes I might do one a week. The Raccoons remain the primary focus of OOTP's worst manager.
