May 16 - RF Ed Yeager (30-L) of Ottawa had 4 hits with 2 doubles and a home run and 4 RBI at Indianapolis. The Otters won, 9 to 2.
May 16 - Columbus scored a run in the bottom of the 9th to tie the game at home versus Buffalo and then scored another run in the bottom of the 19th to win, 4 to 3.
May 16 - Juan Estrada (31-L) of Birmingham pitched a 5 hit shutout at Memphis. He walked 2 and struck out 6. 134 pitches thrown. At bat, had had a hit. It is his 2nd shutout of the season and 8th of his career. He is now 3-5 with a 2.07 ERA in 9 starts. The Barons won, 9 to 0.
May 17 - Jack Brown (29-R) of Charlotte pitched a 3 hit shutout at Richmond. He walked 4, hit a batter and struck out 3. At bat, he had a hit and scored 2 runs. It is his 2nd shutout of the season and the 9th of his career. He is now 3-0 with a 2.04 ERA in 3 starts (8 G). The Hornets won, 7 to 0.
May 19 - Buffalo, who just traded an All-Star pitcher away, lost another on for the season when Danny Belsky (32-R) ruptured a disc. He was 4-2 with a 2.56 ERA in 9 starts. They had already lost Ron Wisham in May.
May 20 - Tim Hill (27-L) of Ottawa pitched a 4 hit shutout at home versus Syracuse. He walked 3 and struck out 3. At bat, he had a hit and an RBI. It is his 2nd shutout of the season and the 10th of his career. He is now 6-2 with a 2.58 ERA in 10 starts. The Otters won, 6 to 0.
May 20 - In his 3rd game with Buffalo since being traded from Charlotte, 3B Tom Morris (31-R), strained a muscle and will miss 4 to 5 weeks.
May 21 - Hartford lost P Dennis Lockamy (38-R) for the rest of the season with an elbow injury. He was 3-4 with a 2.68 ERA in 9 starts.
May 21 - Charlotte won at New Orleans, 12 to 10, in 14 innings. There were 48 hits by the two teams in the game. For the Hornets, SS Marty Derringer (27-R) had 5 hits with a double and a home run, stole a base, scored 4 runs and had 2 RBI. 3B Larry Davis (30-S) had 6 hits, scored a run and had 2 RBI. 2B/1B Terry Wolf (33-L), playing with a strained hamstring, had 5 hits with a double and 2 walks, scored a run and had 3 RBI. For the Pelicans, SS Jim Brister (33-S) had 5 hits with a double, scored a run and had 2 RBI, but also made 2 errors. Each team scored 5 runs in the 9th inning and 1 run in the 10th.
