I prefer pretending that the nightmare is still going on and that we'll all wake up now and it's all not real.

(nestles on his shirt)

I've had these dreams before, where somebody looks in the naughty folder on your laptop, or somebody you love lies in the road, conscious, about to be run over, and you can't rescue them because you're superglued to a chair. Or like the bestest pitcher ever suddenly coming apart - I mean, that's all impossible. Must be a dream.

(looks around)

Man, this dream looks real.

(slow whine)

(rolls back into a ball)
