The Colonels acquired Kyzar in a trade with Syracuse on April 14. He was 14-9 with a 2.72 ERA in 228.1 IP last year and 8-9 with 3 SV and a 2.36 ERA in 10 starts (42 G) and 114.1 IP in 2003. He was 18-8 with a 2.37 ERA in 2001. He is 1-1 in 3 starts against the Jays in his career with a 1.71 ERA. 21 IP, 16 H, 1 HR, 6 BB, 8 SO.

Cal Doty grounds one to to first, but Ed Ruiz makes a bad toss to the pitcher for a 2 base error! Washburn would have scored.... Ray McDonald grounds out to short.

New Pitcher: Roger Wallace (29-R). P Eli Kyzar lines a hit to left.... With 1 out, Ken DeMinico doubles to right center... The Bullpen gets back up. Jose Castillo grounds out to the pitcher and the runners hold. Lee Brand swings at a 3-2 pitch and grounds out to 2nd.
Bottom of the Seventh
Cal Doty takes a 3-2 pitch for ball 4. With 1 out, Tom McDowell grounds an 0-2 pitch up the middle for a hit and Doty beats the throw to 3rd! T.R. Hunter lines one hard to center, but Al Graves makes a sliding catch and Doty tags up and scores. 5 to 1, Colonels.

With 1 out, Robin Massey doubles to right and P Roger Wallace balks him to 3rd... The Bullpen is up. Tony Anderson takes a 3-2 pitch for ball 4.... Vic Stiles lines a hit to right and Massey scores... 6 to 1, Colonels. Pia! A train ticket! What? You're right; no one is pitching well for the Admirals.... Who would I call up? Okay, hold off on the train ticket for now.... Call to the Bullpen: Johnny Groom (27-R). Charlie Faber (34-R) is on to play 2nd in a double switch and T.R. Hunter moves to short. P Eli Kyzar bunts the runners up. Al Graves walk on 4 pitches to load the bases up with 2 outs. Ken DeMinico swings at a 3-2 pitch and misses!

RHP Roger Wallace went 1.1 innings, allowed 1 run, 4 hits, 1 walk and struck out 1. He balked.
RHP Johnny Groom went 1.2 scoreless innings, allowed 1 hit, 1 walk and struck out 2.
Eli Kyzar (W 4-2) went 9 innings (CG), gave us 1 run, 4 hits, 1 walk and struck out 2. 114 pitches. At bat, he had a hit.
1B Jack Washburn hit 2 doubles, but he thought one of them was a triple until Al Graves disavowed him of the notion and after he hit the other one, he immediately got caught stealing 3rd. PH Mike Volkman, in his season debut, had an infield hit.
For Louisville, LF Jose Castillo had 2 hits with his 2nd home run of the season. 1B Ed Ruiz had 2 hits with his 1st home run and had 3 RBI. The Colonels have now hit 9 HR on the season and 5 of them were against the Jays.....
