After the first 7 Jays all make outs, C Bob Hutson bloops a hit over the shortstop. But P Marcos Gallegos is hurt. New Pitcher: Claude Sipple (24-R), a rookie, who is 0-1 with 1 SV and a 4.60 ERA in 15.2 IP. P Jim Baucom lays down a bunts and P Sipple goes to 2nd for the force, but his throw is late! With 1 out, Ray McDonald triples to left! Tom McDowell pops out to shallow right, but McDonald tags up anyway and gets himself thrown out by Ron Alario.....

With 1 out, Keith Meyer doubles to right center and goes to 3rd on a ground out. No problem, because Larry Devaney does not have an RBI all year.... Until now... He grounds a hit to left and Meyer scores... 1 to 0, Mules.

Top of the Fifth
T.R. Hunter grounds a hit to left. Bart Daw doubles off the top of the wall in center! They walk Bob Hutson intentionally to load the bases up with no outs. P Jim Baucom walks in 4 pitches to force in a run! Tie Game: 1 to 1! Jack Washburn grounds a hit to right and the Gold Glover, Ron Alario, muffs the scoop for an error and 2 runs score!! 3 to 1, Jays! Fernando Tello strikes out looking..... Cal Doty lines a hit to left and P Baucom scores and Washburn heads home and the throw by Larry Devaney is to the backstop for an error! 5 to 1, Jays! That does it for P Claude Sipple. New Pitcher: Jim Sutton (35-L), in his season debut. He had been starting games in Evansville (A) for most of the month. He strikes out Ray McDonald and Tom McDowell......

For Memphis, 3B Keith Meyer hit a double and his 3rd home run of the season and scored both of their runs.

The Mules announced that P Marcos Gallegos had back tightness that they expected to bother him for about 2 weeks and would be put on the DL.
