We are in Memphis to play the Mules a 4 game series through the weekend. They split a pair of games here with Birmingham on Monday and Tuesday. We were 9-5 against them last year when they finished 80-82 in 5th place in the South. They are 4th in scoring with 4.29 runs per game (Jacksonville is down to #10 with 3.57) We are scoring even less than the 2001 Jays..... They scored 603 runs, the lowest of any Jay team, and we are on pace to score 579 this season..... The Mules are 13th in fewest runs allowed with 4.52 per game (Jacksonville is #2 with 2.67). Their run differential is -5, 10th best in the MLB, and ours is +19, 3rd best.

Jacksonville Jays (12-9 .571 1 GB tied for 2nd place in the Southern Division) at
Memphis Mules (9-12 .429 4 GB tied for 5th place in the Southern Division)

Top of the First

Bottom of the First
Tony Weninger swings at a 3-2 pitch and grounds out to 2nd. Leo Toruno, the reigning MVP, lines out to right. Keith Meyer, the 2-time MVP, grounds out to 2nd! 1-2-3!

Top of the Fifth
T.R. Hunter lines a double to left, our first hit of the game.... Danny Rosas takes a 3-2 pitch for ball 4. Bob Hutson, in danger of his average falling below .200 without a hit here, grounds a hit to right and the bases are loaded with no outs! P Danny Coreano swings at a 3-2 pitch and grounds into a force at home, 4-2. Charlie Faber grounds into a 6-2-3 double play.............................................. . How did we become so anemic? We were 3rd in scoring last year! And this pitcher is a meatball!

Top of the Sixth
Jack Washburn walks on 4 pitches! Cal Doty grounds a hit up the middle and Washburn goes to 3rd! Surely, we cannot fail to score a runner from 3rd with no outs two innings in a row. Right? Doty steals 2nd! Which takes the bat out of Ray McDonald's hands when they walk him intentionally.......... He's not hitting, anyway, though. Tom McDowell grounds into a force at home, 6-2............ T.R. Hunter mashes a 2-2 pitch to left center for a Grand Slam!!!! 4 to 0, Jays! His second career Grand Slam and first with the Jays!

Bottom of the Seventh
With 1 out, Nestor Gonzalez lines a double to right. The Bullpen gets up. With 2 outs, Steve Gress lines a double to right and Gonzalez scores... 4 to 1, Jays.
