CF Dickie Stemen (30-R) was put on the Disabled List and LF Danny Stewart (34-L) was recalled from Daytona Beach (A). We are down to 1 CF on the active roster: 35 year old Gary McKellar, the fellow with the sometimes attitude problems who cannot outrun my 3-legged pet box turtle anymore, but somehow can cover enough ground in center to be our best out there..... We are going to try to platoon him and Danny Rosas, with Ray McDonald playing center against right-handers. We are assuming that it won't be too long until Cal Doty comes back and are avoiding the radical step of calling up Dave Brown (20-L), our 3rd round pick in this year's B Leagues Draft, who could handle the position defensively, but probably would no hit his weight, which might break his spirit and stunt his growth.

Louisville Colonels (5-6 .455 3 GB in 5th place in the Southern Division) at
Jacksonville Jays (8-3 .737 2 GA in 1st place in the Southern Division)

LOU: Carlos Santiago (27-L) (1-1 3.21 ERA 14 IP, 13 H, 1 HR, 3 BB, 10 SO)
JAX: Dave Buchalter (26-R) (A Ball: 0-1 1.29 ERA 7 IP, 4 H, 1 HR, 3 BB, 4 SO)

Santiago was 15-15 with a 2.69 ERA in 254.1 IP last year and 8-15 with a 4.64 ERA in 2003. He is 3-8 in 14 starts against the Jays in his career with a 4.27 ERA. 97 IP, 102 H, 4 HR, 28 BB, 56 SO.

Buchalter is making his season debut with the Jays. He was 5-1 in 6 starts for us last year with 4.14 ERA. 37 IP, 32 H, 8 HR, 17 BB, 16 SO.
