Home Opener!

The Indianapolis Arrows hare here to help us pop the cork on Connie Mack Stadium fro 2005 with a 4 game series. They split 4 games in Memphis over the weekend. We were 7-1 against them last year when they finished 70-92 in 6th place in the North. After a week of play, they are tied for 10th in scoring with 4.00 runs per game (Jacksonville is #5 with 4.50). The Arrows are tied for 14th in fewest runs allowed with 5.67 per game (Jacksonville is #1 with 2.00!). Their run differential is -10, 4th worst in the MLB, and ours is +15, 2nd best to Ottawa (+21!).

Indianapolis Arrows (2-4 .333 3 GB tied for 7th (last) place in the Northern Division) at
Jacksonville Jays (4-2 .667 1 GA in 1st place in the Southern Division)

IND: Arturo Flores (28-L) (5-12 4.66 ERA 121.2 IP, 151 H, 7 HR, 64 BB, 66 SO Last year) Gold Glove(01)
JAX: Tommy Keyser (25-L) (A Ball: 7-9 4.05 ERA 111 IP, 120 H, 9 HR, 47 BB, 69 SO Last year) Rookie

Flores is making his season debut. He looks like an easy touch, but he is 3-1 in 5 starts against the Jays in his career with 2 shutouts and a 1.36 ERA, the 3rd best among all opponents who have started at least 5 games. 33 IP, 23 H, 2 HR, 11 BB, 22 SO.

Keyser is making his season debut. He started 4 games for the Jays in 2003 and went 2-1, but had a 6.75 ERA. 18.2 IP, 26 H, 3 HR, 10 BB, 11 SO. Other than allowing too many hits, walks and home runs, he did okay.... He was the #49 prospect this Spring, up 10 spots from last year, which is the biggest reason we have any hope for him, because he has not pitched very well anywhere yet. But he pitched better than the other candidates for the #5 spot int he rotation this Spring, so here he is. He will be given 3 starts at least and after that, we will reevaluate the situation.
