Top of the First
I hate to mention this for fear of jinxing him today, but it just has to be mentioned. We are playing our 5th game and Jack Washburn has yet to strike out! He struck out 104 times in 423 AB last year. He swings at the first pitch and grounds out to 2nd. Fernando Tello swings at the first pitch and hits one deep to right that just clears the fence for a home run! Thank you, Wind! 1 to 0, Jays! Ray McDonald strikes out looking.... Tom McDowell grounds out to 1st, unassisted.

Bottom of the First
Steve Shauer grounds a hit to right.... P Jim Baucom's deepest hitless run into a game so far this year is still 0 batters..... Dave Sanders bloops a hit to right and Shauer goes to 3rd... Bob Cline plunks into a force at 2nd, 2-6, and Shauer holds at 3rd. Floyd Shawn grounds into a 5-4-3 double play!!

Bottom of the Fifth
With 1 out, Jose Madrid walks on 4 pitches and steals 2nd. P Mike Elizondo grounds a hit up the middle and Madrid heads home, but Dickie Stemen throws him out!

Top of the Sixth
Fernando Tello doubles high off the wall in center! They walk Ray McDonald intentionally. Tom McDowell has an many GDP as H (2) this season.... But he lines out to center. With 2 outs, T.R. Hunter bloops a hit to right and Tello beats the throw home and the runners move up! 2 to 0, Jays! Bart Daw lines a hit to center and both runners score!! 4 to 0, Jays!

Bottom of the Seventh

Roger Briones and Jorge Ortega lead off with back to back hits.... The Bullpen gets up. Dan Carroll lines out to 1st and Jack Washburn fires the ball to T.R. Hunter at 2nd and we double off Briones!!

Won - 4 to 0

We had 8 hits and made no errors
Columbus had 7 hits and made no errors

Jim Baucom (W 2-0) pitched 9 shutout innings (CG), allowed 7 hits, 1 walk and struck out 6. 107 pitches. At bat, he drew a walk. The 19th shutout of his career, most in the MLB!

Mike Elizondo (L 1-1) went 8 innings, gave us 4 runs, 7 hits, 1 home run, 2 walks and struck out 9. At bat, he had a hit.

1B Jack Washburn went 0 for 4 with 2 strikeouts. My bad.... LF Fernando Tello hit a double and his first home run of the season and scored 2 runs. RF Ray McDonald had a hit and a walk (INT) and scored a run. 2B T.R. Hunter had a hit, scored a run and had an RBI. SS Bart Daw had 2 hits and 2 RBI.

Around the League:
It was a good day for the Jays as they were the only Southern Division team to win a game today! Which means every team in the division now has a losing record except for Jacksonville!
