Monday Morning Report
Player of the Week - Doug Essex, SP, Birmingham (29-R 10-12 4.73) The rookie pitched 2 shutouts. 18 IP, 10 H, 0 HR, 3 BB, 14 SO.

September 28 - 1B Ray Dallas (22-R) of Hartford went 5 for 5 with a double, stole a base, scored 3 runs and had an RBI at home versus Indianapolis. The Whalers won, 8 to 7, in 10 innings.
September 28 - C Larry Slattery (28-R) of Richmond went 2 for 2 with 2 doubles, scored a run and had 5 RBI at home versus Charlotte. He was injured hitting the second double and had to leave the game, but it turned out not to be serious. The Robins won, 11 to 8.
September 29 - C Fred Hines (34-R) of Indianapolis had 5 hits in 8 at bats and scored a run at Hartford, but the Arrows lost, 9 to 8, in 15 innings.
September 29 - Bill Halpin (28-R) of Columbus pitched a 4 hit shutout at home versus Rochester. He walked 2 and struck out 8. At bat, he went 3 for 3, scored a run and had an RBI. It is his 2nd shutout of the season and 8th of his career. He is now 8-8 with a 3.46 ERA in 24 starts. The Explorers won, 6 to 0.
September 29 - Jim Hower (36-R) of Ottawa pitched a 4 hit shutout at home versus Providence. He walked 1 and struck out 7. It is his 4th shutout of the season and 12th of his career. He is now 11-14 with a 3.56 ERA in 34 starts. The Otters won, 3 to 0.
October 2 - Rookie Doug Essex (29-R) of Birmingham pitched a 4 hit shutout at home versus Charlotte. He walked 1 and struck out 6. It is his 3rd shutout of the season and his career. He is now 10-12 with a 4.73 ERA in 27 starts (28 G). The Barons won, 5 to 0.
October 2 - Terry Luckett (29-L) of Columbus pitched a 5 hit shutout at home versus Syracuse. He walked 1 and struck out 5. At bat, he had a hit and a walk and scored a run. It is his 2nd shutout of the season and the 13th of his career. He is now 22-6 with a 1.99 ERA in 34 starts. The Explorers won, 8 to 0.
October 3 - Steve Cron (30-L) of Buffalo pitched a 5 hit shutout at home versus Indianapolis. He walked 1 and struck out 4. At bat, he hit a home run and had 3 RBI. The 3rd HR of his career. He hit 2 in 2001. It is his 6th shutout of the season and 16th of his career. He is now 17-14 with a 2.81 ERA in 36 starts. The Bombers won, 9 to 0.
