With 1 out, Tom McDowell gets beaned and goes to 2nd on a ground out. Bart Daw lines a 2-out hit to left and McDowell scores! 1 to 0, Jays! Daw gets caught stealing.... It was okay to run there, though, when you are the #7 hitter on 1st with 2 outs.

New Pitcher: Carl Hughes (34-R), who is 5-5 with 8 SV and a 5.79 ERA in 56 IP. Ray McDonald takes a 3-2 pitch for ball 4 and then steals his 20th base of the season! Tom McDowell swings at a 3-2 pitch and beats out an infield hit! We now have 4 hits on the day, 2 of them by P Del Warwick. Jack Washburn draws a walk to load the bases up with no outs! Bart Daw takes a 3-2 pitch for strike three... C Bert Swope gets beaned with a 1-2 pitch to force in a run! 2 to 0, Jays. Swope looks hurt, though.... Trudy the Trainer checks him out and clears him to keep playing! P Del Warwick pops out to center and the runners hold... Charlie Faber strikes out on 3 pitches....
Top of the Eighth
With 2 outs, Ray McDonald hits a fly ball to left, but Lee Brand muffs the catch for a 2 base error! Tom McDowell lines a hit to right and McDonald scores! 3 to 0, Jays!
Bottom of the Ninth
P Del Warwick is at 103 pitches. The Bullpen is ready. He has not allowed a hit or a walk all game.... The only thing keeping him form going for a Perfect Game, is an error by 2B Charlie Faber.... Ed Ruiz grounds out to short! PH Graham Carr (32-R), who was 1 for 3 with a walk yesterday, knocks a 2-0 pitch over the center fielder's head for a double............................................ ................. Danny Rosas flies out to center. Al Graves grounds out to 3rd and this ball game belongs to the Jays........

Del Warwick (W 14-9) pitched 9 shutout innings (CG), allowed 1 hit, no walks and struck out 5. 115 pitches. At bat, he had 2 hits. It is his 6th shutout of the season and 12th of his career. He is now 2nd in the MLB in shutouts this season to Jim Baucom (9)! It is the 2nd 1-hitter by a Jay pitcher. Jim Baucom tossed one last year at Memphis. We have never had a No-No.
John Wilson (L 8-17) went 6 innings, gave us 1 run, 3 hits, no walks, 1 HBP and struck out 2.
LF/RF Ray McDonald drew a walk, stole a base and scored 2 runs. 3B Tom McDowell had 2 hits, scored a run and had an RBI.
