Player of the Week - Buddy Elliott, 3B, Syracuse (34-R .267/.365/.407) Had 9 hits with 3 HR, 5 BB, 4 SO, 8 R and 8 RBI in 6 G

August 23 - Ray Miller (29-R) of Birmingham pitched a 4 hit shutout at Louisville. He walked 1 and struck out 7. It is his 1st shutout of the season and 3rd of his career. He is now 5-3 with a 2.44 ERA in 11 starts. The Barons won, 5 to 0.
August 24 - Rookie Pete Harris (24-R) of Rochester pitched a 5 hit shutout at home versus Columbus. He walked 2 and struck out 5. At bat, he had a hit. It is his 3rd shutout of the season and his career. He is now 7-8 with a 3.54 ERA in 22 starts. 3B Gary Russell (27-R) hit 2 home runs, including a Grand Slam. He becomes the first player ever to hit a Grand Slam for two different teams in the same season. He hit one for Ottawa in April. The Roosters won, 7 to 0.
August 24 - 3B Ray Dallas (22-R) of Hartford had 4 hits with a home run and a walk, scored 2 runs and had 4 RBI at Indianapolis. The Whalers won, 12 to 4.
August 24 - Louisville prevailed at home, 5 to 4, in 16 innings over Birmingham. 2B Ron Lerche (26-R) knocked in RF Danny Rosas (25-L) with a 1-out single to win the game.
August 27 - 3B Buddy Elliott (34-R) of Syracuse had 2 hits with a Grand Slam, 2 walks and had 5 RBI at Hartford. The Sycamores won, 7 to 1.
August 29 - Rookie RF John Byers (21-R) of Syracuse had a pair of hits at Hartford to extend his hitting streak to 20 games.
August 29 - Billy Warner (25-R) of Richmond pitched a 4 hit shutout at Louisville. He did not walk a batter and struck out 5. At bat, he had a hit and an RBI. It is his 3rd shutout of the season and 8th of his career. He is now 12-7 with a 2.51 ERA in 23 starts. The Robins won, 7 to 0.
