2298 Week 10 - The Week in Review

Analysis

For a while, we are sticking with Risers and Fallers.

Oberland returns to its rightful place at the top of the Power Rankings this week, while Abernathy takes a tumble back in the Rankings. Roxbury remains as the bottom team of them all. The Slog was this week's biggest riser, up nine spots, while Jamaica Plain fell nine spots.

In other comings and goings, Nordhagen Beach retook control of the Brotherhood League with a resounding sweep of Easy Town. The Assaultrons must lick their wounds and get right back up since one of our featured teams this week, The Slog, is now just two games back in the BL wildcard race.

The Institute League looks like it will feature the most exciting race from start to finish. Abernathy holds just a one-game lead over Starlight and a three-game lead over Fort Hagen. Meanwhile, Lexington is not out of it yet at 24-26, just five games back.

The Minutemen League and Railroad League look like they are embroiled in a battle for the wildcard spot. In the RL, no team wants to take control of the second spot. Diamond City currently holds the second spot and will be featured below. Vault 81 dropped five straight and Egret dropped three.

After Jamaica Plain's poor week, both University Point and Quincy seem to be in a two-way battle for the ML wildcard spot. The Deathclaws swept the Red Rockets in a series that could have kept the race at three teams.

Here are the current team power rankings for Commonwealth Baseball Organization:

Risers

The Slog (+9, LW - 16, TW -9) - With a sweep over IL first place team Abernathy and a road sweep of league rival County Crossing, the Ghouls are now fully in the wildcard race. Before it seemed that the BL would come down to an easy 1-2 combo of Nordhagen Beach and Easy Town. However, as we approach the halfway point, suddenly The Slog is looking like its 2296 prominence. There is still a lot of season left, but a slew of victories is always a step in a positive direction towards a playoff push.

Diamond City (+7, LW - 18, TW - 11) - The Swatters were 4-1 on the week after dropping their first game at Warwick. They rebounded with a 15-inning win and then a sweep of Vault 81 where they limited the dangerous Dwellers' offense to just eight runs in three games. Potential MVP candidate Wayne Lacy helped push his team forward by earning South Charles Association Player of the Week honors. He leads the Swatters in batting average (.381, 2nd in SCA), homers (18, 1st in CBO), and RBI (55, 2nd in SCA).

Fallers

Finch Farm (-7, LW - 9, TW - 16) - Where the Four Leafs rose seven spots last week, they dropped right back down those same seven spots this week. This week they were 1-4 with the only winning coming in Game Two at Salem. It was an especially brutal week after dropping two to 4th place Lexington in the IL and last place Salem in the BL. The Four Leafs' playoff chances are nil unless they can consistently beat the lower half teams they play.

County Crossing (-7, LW - 14, TW - 21) - The Bloodbugs did even worse than their league mates, going 0 for 5 in games this week, putting them in a last-place tie with the Witch Hats. In all fairness, County Crossing played the two hottest teams in the CBO this week, Starlight and The Slog. After a 17-inning defeat at the hands of the Lady Killers, County Crossing could not regain its momentum. They have now lost 6 of 7.
