This is how I've been playing since I got into OOTP just under one year ago. I started in 1981 - all rosters & stats were identical to real life, until the first pitch of opening day 1981. From there I was now on my own personal parallel universe using the OOTP development engine. Anyone looking at the statistical output would believe they were looking at 1981-like statistics at the end of the season. Pitcher stamina replicates 1981. Team BABIP replicates 1981, etc...etc...etc...

For me, the nostalgia factor was an enormous plus. It was so fun to see what 1981 might have looked like if Jim Rice had been traded and if Ron Guidry missed the entire season due to injury and 1,000 other things that were different from the real-life 1981. I don't need to relive the real-life 1981**. I've been through it already. But a parallel universe? OMG. Let the good times roll... I'm now up to the year 1994 and the fun hasn't diminished even one bit. It helps when you have Barry Bonds batting after Bernie Williams.

Not to be too corny about it, but one of the best things about OOTP, for me, has been this community.

** - I mean no disrespect to those who play replay seasons or any other form of OOTP universe. Everybody should play as they see fit. Except for people who play with 9 Aaron Judges in their lineup and 5 Cole's as their rotation. Those people need years of psychological help. We should start a fund. Just kidding. Even those weirdos are cool too.
