My first Strat-O season was playing in 1964 with the 1963-based stats. I played off-and-on through the introduction of splits well into the 1990's. However when Baseball Mogul and OOTP came out, that was it for me with Strat.

Why? The false sense of accuracy from the splits, for one. Now they do represent the actual results of one season. However, they can be highly misleading. For example, the cards that most bothered me were the Champ Summers of the world, a lefty DH who had no hits on his lefty split column. Why? Because he never batted against a lefty. Now is it realistic to give him no chance? Not very. He would have SOME chance of hitting a lefty. And that's what OOTP gives him.

Further, one year splits are notoriously volatile. I like to play careers (something I could never do in Strat) and thus wierd splits like that are not good.
