We are in Ottawa to finish our season series with the Otters with 4 games through the weekend that will take us to the All-Star break. They lost a pair of games to Syracuse on Monday and Tuesday. We won 3 of 4 games in Jacksonville against them, May 31 - June 3. They are tied for 8th in scoring with 4.00 runs per game (Jacksonville is #7 with 4.24). The Otters are 7th in fewest runs allowed with 4.10 per game (Jacksonville is #1 with 3.24). Their run differential is -8 and ours is +83, down to 3rd best.

Tom Van Diest grounds a hit up the middle and Bidwell scores... 2 to 0, Otters. Joe Tomlinson grounds out to the pitcher.

With 2 outs, Leander Gooding lines a 3-2 pitch to center for a hit. Fernando Tello swings at the first pitch and hits a home run to right!! Tie Game: 2 to 2!

Bottom of the Third
With 1 out, Mike Hughes grounds the first pitch up the middle for a hit. With 2 outs, Tom Van Diest doubles to center and Hughes scores... 3 to 2, Otters. 6 hits already by the Otters.... Joe Tomlinson lines an 0-2 pitch to right for their seventh hit and Van Diest heads home, but Fernando Tello throws him out! Surely, they have their quota of hits by now....

Top of the Seventh
Ray McDonald draws a walk. Tom McDowell beats out an infield hit. Jack Washburn bunts the runners up.... PH Mike Volkman (36-L) beats out an infield hit and McDonald scores! Tie Game: 3 to 3! Bert Swope grounds into a force at 2nd, 1-6, and McDowell holds at 3rd. P Jim Baucom is allowed to hit, because we are loathe to take him out of the game, and he beats out an infield hit and McDowell scores! 4 to 3, Jays!

Bottom of the Ninth

P Jim Baucom is at 128 pitches.... Jim Hess stays in to catch. The Bullpen is ready. 7-8-9 up for the Otters. Joe Tomlinson swings at the first pitch and grounds out to short! Dave Behm strikes out! PH Phil Shumate (31-S), batting .290 with 12 HR and 30 RBI in 186 AB, strikes out and THIS Ball Game Belongs to the Jays!

Out 5th Complete Game in the last 7 games!

We have not quite reached the All-Star break, but we have already won more games than the 2001 Jays!

Jim Baucom (W 17-1) went 9 innings (CG), allowed 3 runs (1 earned), 9 hits, 1 walk and struck out 10. 140 pitches. At bat, he had a hit and an RBI.

Juan Ledesma (L 6-7) went 7 innings, gave us 4 runs, 6 hits, 1 home run, 2 walks and struck out 3.

RF Fernando Tello hit his 6th home run of the season, had 2 RBI and threw a runner out at the plate. His 3rd home run in the last 4 games. LF/RF Ray McDonald had a hit and a walk and scored a run. PH Mike Volkman had a hit and an RBI.
