Today is Tom McDowell's 27th birthday!
We are in Birmingham to play a short 2 game set. The Barons split 4 games in Memphis over the weekend. We are 4-0 against them this season and won a pair of games here, April 19-20. They are 12th in scoring with 3.90 runs per game (Jacksonville is #8 with 4.00). The Barons are 14th in fewest runs allowed with 5.01 per game (Jacksonville is #1 with 3.21!). Their run differential is -76, 2nd worst in the MLB, and ours is +54, 2nd best.

Warwick gave up 3 runs on 8 hits and 2 walks with 4 strikeouts in 6.1 innings last time out in a no decision that we won in 12 innings.
We beat Staab two weeks ago, scoring 5 runs on 6 hits and 4 walks with 2 strikeouts in 3.2 innings.

Del Warwick (W 4-5) went 7 innings, allowed 2 runs, 9 hits, 1 home run, 3 walks and struck out 1. 118 pitches. At bat, he had a hit and an RBI.
RHP Bob Craig went 1+ innings, allowed 1 run, 2 hits, 1 walk and struck out 2.
RHP Robbie Hopley (SV 7) pitched a scoreless inning, allowed 1 hit and struck out 1.
Al Staab (L 0-2) went 3.2 innings, gave us 4 runs, 6 hits, 1 walk and struck out no one. Both of his losses are to the Jays.
RF Fernando Tello hit his 3rd home run of the season and had 2 RBI. CF/LF Cal Doty had a hit and a walk. 3B Tom McDowell, the birthday boy, went 3 for 3 with a home run and a walk and scored 3 runs. 1B Jack Washburn had 2 hits, scored a run and had an RBI. SS Bart Daw had a hit and a walk (INT). C Jim Hess went 1 for 1 with a SF.
For Birmingham, 1B Gerald Young went 5 for 5 and had 2 RBI.
The Barons announced that P Al Staab had back stiffness and should be fine in 3 or 4 days. RP Tony Horch had a sore ankle, but should be fine by tomorrow.
