Bottom of the Fifth

We have more errors than hits... Roger Beaudin grounds a hit up the middle and Meyer scores... 4 to 0, Mules.

Top of the Seventh

With 2 outs, Bert Swope doubles to left, our second hit of the game. Charlie Faber draws a walk. PH Dennis Brown (30-L) pokes a hit to right and Swope beats the throw home! 4 to 1, Mules. PH Leander Gooding (33-R), who will stay in to play 2nd, beats out an infield hit and the bases are loaded with 2 outs. Cal Doty swings at a 2-2 pitch and lines one off the wall down the right field line and clears the bases with a double, but gets thrown out trying for 3rd, 9-3-5.... Tie Game: 4 to 4!

Top of the Ninth
On the Hill: John Robillard (28-R), their closer, after a scoreless 9th. Bert Swope doubles to right! Pinch-runner: Frank Roadman (29-R). Danny Stewart grounds one hard to the right side, but 1B Nestor Gonzalez makes a diving stop and tosses to the pitcher covering for the out...

Bottom of the Ninth
New Pitcher: Mike Marsh (23-R), in his season debut, to face one batter. Top of their order up. They pull down Tony Weninger and send up PH Rafael Jimenez (29-L), the 2-time All-Star... I did not think they would pinch-hit for Weninger, else I would not have sent in P Marsh... Jimenez walks on 4 pitches... Call to the Bullpen: Albert Davies (27-L). Leo Toruno bunts Jimenez to 2nd. Keith Meyer pops out to 3rd! Nestor Gonzalez swings at the first pitch and flies out to deep center and THIS Ball Game Belongs to the Jays!

Won - 5 to 4

RHP John Robillard (L 0-1) went 2 innings, gave us 1 run, 2 hits, 2 walks (1 INT) and struck out 1.

For Memphis, SS Tony Weninger had 3 hits, stole 2 bases and scored a run. 3B Keith Meyer hit his 8th home run of the season, tying him for the MLB lead, scored 2 runs and had 3 RBI.

Around the League:
1B Marty Eades (33-R) of Rochester had 3 hits with 2 HR, one in the bottom of the 8th to tie the game and one in the bottom of the 10th to win the game. They are his 1st 2 HR of the season, but he is hitting .304. Editor's Note: I was right in my surmise that he would not get a rating for 3rd base this season.
