Hartford, who had the worst pitching in the MLB this year, traded away two of their starting pitchers for a 1st baseman when they had the #1 pick in this year's B Leagues Draft playing there this season.
The Whalers traded P Franklin Garcia (33-R) and P Angel Gomez (23-R) to Charlotte for 1B Tom Barker (31-L).
Garcia was 8-8 with a 3.06 ERA in 27 and was the Silver Slugger this year. He was easily their best starting pitcher this year. Gomez was 9-14 with a 4.50 ERA in 29 starts and led the MLB with 29 HR allowed, but was the #57 prospect this Spring.
Barker hit .255 with 10 HR and 40 RBI in 184 AB.
