He is not as good a hitter as Eades has been for us, but he is a better fielder and 6 years younger. And he hit better for Rochester than Eades did for Memphis when we traded for him. In its latest rankings of players by position, Baseball America had Eades as the #5 3rd baseman and this fellow as the #6. On May 7, 2002, McDowell went 5 for 5 with a double and a home run and 5 RBI against us.

Love this trade for you. Eades was awesome, but defense is so important. And McDowell looks like an awesome pickup. Love the glove and it looks like the bat is trending up. With a little more speed he would steal so many bases too. Especially considering he went 22-for-22 last year.
