I actually find it to be the exact opposite. When I sim as the GM, my team wins 60-70% of the time. When I hands-on manage the game, I only win 20-30% of the time.
When I manage the game, hitter-by-hitter, pitcher-by-pitcher, my best hitters can't hit a lick, and my ace-pitchers uncharacteristically give up HR's like mints in a candy jar.
I don't claim to be a great manager, but it does seem odd that an ace pitcher only seems to give up multi-HR's in games that are human controlled. And offenses tend to shut down only in games that are human controlled.
