September 2 - Buford Nolan (27-R) of Ottawa pitched a 3 hit shutout at home versus Syracuse. He walked 2 and struck out 6. He is now 11-9 with a 2.80 ERA in 25 starts. The Otters won, 2 to 0, and only had 4 hits themselves.
September 2 - LF Mickey Lynn (30-L) of Buffalo had 3 hits with 2 home runs and a walk, scored 3 runs and had 3 RBI at home versus Indianapolis. The Bombers won, 9 to 3.
September 2 - Memphis lost P Rick Potts (24-R) for the rest of the season with bone spurs on his elbow. He is 10-3 with a 2.08 ERA in 24 starts.
September 3 - Danny Belsky (30-R) of Buffalo pitched a 3 hit shutout at home versus Indianapolis. He did not walk a batter, but beaned one and struck out 8. At bat, he hit a double, scored a run and had an RBI. It is his 2nd shutout of the season. He is now 10-8 with a 2.75 ERA in 28 starts. The Bombers won, 10 to 0.
September 3 - Dennis Hughes (29-R) of Providence pitched a 3 hit shutout at home versus Rochester. He walked 4 and struck out 7. He is now 8-6 with a 3.06 ERA and 1 SV in 9 starts (41G). The Steamrollers won, 5 to 0.
September 4 - Steve Melita (30-R) of Columbus pitched a 4 hit shutout at home versus Memphis. He walked 4 and struck out 5. It is his 2nd shutout of the season. He is now 9-12 with a 3.52 ERA in 26 starts. The Explorers won, 2 to 0.
September 4 - Ottawa lost P Juan Ledesma (31-R) for the rest of the season with a fractured elbow. The 2-time All-Star is 13-12 with a 2.91 ERA in 28 starts.
September 4 - SS T.R. Hunter (26-R) of Providence went 5 for 5 with a double, scored a run and had 4 RBI at home versus Birmingham. The Steamrollers won, 6 to 5.
September 4 - Buffalo lost their 2nd All-Star for the season when SS Dave Lloyd (30-R) fractured his thumb. He was hitting .248 with 6 HR and 37 RBI in 319 AB.
September 5 - Birmingham lost P Don Young (35-R) for the rest of the season and they figure all of next season, too, with a torn rotator cuff. He is 8-7 with a 2.24 ERA in 24 starts, the most he has had in a season in the MLB. He could only manage 13 in 2001 and 12 in 2002. Also, 3B Larry Davis went hitless, ending his hitting streak at 27 games, 2 shy of the record.
September 7 - 1B Nestor Gonzalez (29-L) of Memphis had 2 hits with a home run, scored 2 runs and had 5 RBI at Columbus. The Mules won, 15 to 3. C Roger Beaudin (31-R) hit 2 triples, tying the MLB record. They are the 1st two triples of his MLB career.
September 8 - SS Joel McCormick (35-R) of Buffalo had 4 hits with a home run and a walk, scored 3 runs and had 3 RBI at home versus Louisville. P Steve Cron (29-L) pitched a 6 hit shutout and had 4 hits at bat, scored a run and had 3 RBI. The Bombers won, 18 to 0, and they are headed next to Jacksonville. Everyone in the lineup had a hit and scored a run.
September 8 - LF Ricky Perez (24-L) of Orlando had 3 hits with a home run, scored 3 runs and had 3 RBI at home versus Indianapolis. He also threw a runner out at home. The Juice won, 9 to 4.
