I shift the outfield for pull hitters, doubt that shifting according to a previous at bat would be the best idea since being a pull/neutral/spray hitter is more of a long term trend than a short term/single at bat thing.
In the infield I do a weak shift for pull and a hard shift for extreme pull. I almost never guard the lines but on those rare occasions it's usually in the late innings with a runner on first and a weak spray hitter or a pitcher at bat in a close game.
Haven't used to infield/outfield deep choices in a very long time but if I had low range outfielders or infielders I'd be more likely to use them.
Since the AI doesn't have to warm up relievers, I keep that option turned off.
Try the different positioning options and see what comes as a result, it'll be fun :-)
Well, it'll be fun sometimes and frustrating far more often probably LOL.
