After a weak week in which they went 3-3, Boston simply don't appear to have what it takes to challenge to Mutuals, despite the fact that they have outscored their opponents this season by 109 runs as compared with New York's 105. Chicago is on a six-game winning streak, though it comes much too late to impact the pennant race. At this point, barring a miracle New York should stroll to the first National League pennant.
