Moon League
For the first time in their history, City will play in the playoffs. They managed to win the Metro division with more than 100 wins and the best record in the regular season. Their players Dave Jackman & Yun-qi Chu really did explose this season (see below in awards section). The Nang Nius will join them with a .574 record, while the Freros only played for .500. As expected, the Thunders did finish last with more than 100 loss.
The winner of the Outlands division had less victories, as the Green District Expendables won their division with only .506 average. Mike Jackson was their most consistent player. The other newcomer in the postseason is the Narballo Tattoed Sharks which were only 1-game shy of winning their first division title. The Maple Leaves finish third and the expansion team from Stonegap finish last.
Sun League
The Silver Eagles won the first edition of the Colourful Valley division, they had a solid team led by 1988 Golden Glove Herman Strazzer and 1988 Silver Glover Victor Morales. The other franchise from Boubi Town, will accompany them with their second place. The Gree Goblins finished just two wins behind them. The Tigers had not played the playoffs since their title in 1976. Note that the Golden Dragons were the best expansion team with their .463 average.
This season, another team achieved more than 100 wins : the Black&Yellows with only one win less than City. The could rely on really good pitching, with the Golden Ball winner Kevin Delahaye et Silver Ball winner Jorge Aleman. There was a tight race for the second postseason berth, but the Diamond did overcome their state rivals, the Sea Stars with 3 more wins. High expectations were placed on the Bears, but they were the worst team accross the league in 1988 with a .296 average.
Pitcher Diego Rizo was the first pick in the 1988 Draft. The venezuelan player was picked in 3rd position by the Green Districts Expendables (I could not find the first two picks, my guess is that they didn't signed with the Maple Leaves and the Freros ?)
The first edition of the All-Star Game took place in the National Baseball Dome, home of the Lingalie City Baseball Club.
