Top of the First:
Marty Derringer strikes out looking! Bruce McArthur pokes a hit to right center... Larry Davis draws a walk... Terry Wolf hits a home run to right... 3 to 0, Hornets. Tom Morris pops out to left. Jimmy Reed fouls out to 1st.

Bottom of the First:

Cal Doty flies out to deep right. Leander Gooding grounds out to 3rd. Glen Lewis flies out to left...

Top of the Third:
Marty Derringer lines a hit to left center. Bruce McArthur grounds into a force at 2nd, 3-6. Larry Davis draws another walk. With 2 outs, Tom Morris draws a walk to load the bases up. Jimmy Reed lines a hit to left center and McArthur scores... 4 to 0, Hornets. I do not think we will get a Complete Game out of Jim Baucom today....

Bottom of the Third:

Bart Daw grounds one over the 1st base bag and ends up with a triple! P Jim Baucom grounds a hit to left and Daw scores! 4 to 1, Hornets. But that is all we get.

Lost - 4 to 1

We had 6 hits and made 1 error
Charlotte had 6 hits and made no errors

The winning streak is done after 9 games.
P Jim Baucom would not have been my first pick to be the pitcher that ended the streak...
We have gone 7 straight games without a home run...

Jim Baucom (L 5-5) went 7 innings, allowed 4 runs, 5 hits, 1 home run, 5 walks and struck out 8, tying the team record. 122 pitches. At bat, he had a hit and our only RBI.
RHP Justin Reddick went 2 scoreless innings, allowed 1 hit and struck out 2.

Rick Cox (W 7-0) went 8 innings, gave us 1 run, 6 hits, 1 walk and struck out 3. He is the 1st pitcher to beat us twice this season.
RHP Miguel Tejeda (SV 2) pitched a perfect 9th.

C Bert Swope had 2 hits. 1B Jack Washburn hit a double. SS Bart Daw hit a triple and scored our only run. RF Mike Volkman had a hit in his only at bat.

For Charlotte, 2B Terry Wolf hit a double and a home run and had 3 RBI. 3B Larry Davis went 0 for 2 with 2 walks and a strikeout and scored a run. His 21 game hitting streak ended. It was only the 8th time he has struck out all season.

Down on the Farm:
Daytona (A) won at home versus Evansville, 4 to 3, in 12 innings, ending their 15 game losing streak. They had a 14 game losing streak earlier.
