Replacing Spring Training with Development Tourney...

... anyone ever try it? I was thinking of making a cross-league type tournament but couldn't find a spot in the schedule for it. So, if I don't schedule spring training and instead use a development/winter league type tournament with a month's worth of games, does that impact player advancement at all? I couldn't find anything specific in the manual that made this a bad idea.

I thought it would be fun to have regional-type play among fictional teams normally split in different prom/rel levels, so San Francisco, LA, Fresno, Visalia, etc. would all square off for a mini-season. I'm finding spring training for prom/rel even more boring than it is in bigger leagues.

Thanks for any thoughts or negative experiences.
