Today is Ed Diskin's 38th birthday!
Jacksonville Jays (5-8 .385 3.5 GB in 5th place in the Southern Division) at
Memphis Mules (7-7 .500 2 GB in 4th place in the Southern Division)
JAX: Dale Gilchrist (23-R) (1-0 1.35 ERA 13.1 IP, 6 H, 0 HR, 6 BB, 10 SO) Rookie vs.
MEM: Rick Potts (23-R) (2-0 1.14 ERA 23.2 IP, 20 H, 0 HR, 6 BB, 20 SO)
Gilchrist gave up 2 runs on 2 hits and 2 walks with 4 strikeouts in 4.1 innings in a no decision last time out. He left the game with an injury, a strained hamstring, that is still bothering him. He says it does not affect his pitching, only his running.
Potts is their #1 starter. He was 11-9 with a 3.21 ERA in 199 IP last year. He was 2-0 in 4 starts against us with a 2.49 ERA. 25.1 IP, 21 H, 2 HR, 12 BB, 19 SO.

Top of the Seventh:
Ed Diskin leads off with a triple to right center! Glen Lewis lines a hit to center and Diskin scores! 7 to 5, Mules. The next three make outs...
Bottom of the Eighth:
New Pitcher: Bill Grant (31-L). With 1 out, Pedro Manzanares grounds out to short, where Leander Gooding (31-R) is now, but Gooding calls out Trudy the Trainer... And we have no middle infielders left on the bench.... Ismael Gonzales (34-R) goes in to play 2nd, and Ed Diskin moves to short...
Top of the Ninth:
On the Hill: Lee Olson (36-R), their closer, after two scoreless innings. 2-3-4 up for us. Rob Worms lines out to short. Cal Doty pops a hit over the shortstop.
