1 July 2297 - BL: Mastodon Leads Bloodbugs to Win

County Crossing left fielder Tom Mastodon was a significant contributor in his team's 8-4 triumph over the Nordhagen Beach Party Boys. He was 4 for 4 with a triple, 2 doubles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for County Crossing. Bad Company Grognak, the winner, goes to 7-3. He allowed 4 runs on 11 hits, with 3 walks and 8 strikeouts over 9 innings. With the win, County Crossing raised its record to 19-18.

There was more than one reason the Bloodbugs beat the Party Boys, but Mastodon's big at-bat in the bottom of the second was an important factor. He staked his team to a 3-1 lead when he hit a 2-run single.

"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Mastodon.

Other Scores:

The Slog 4 at Easy Town 2, 13 inn.
The Slog Ghouls starter Edwin Mass seemed to have pitched his team past the Easy Town Assaultrons leaving the game in the ninth up 1-0. However, a single run by the Assaultrons in the ninth pushed this one to extra innings.

The Slog relied on the hitting of Shane LeTato to pick up the win. The catcher clubbed a 2-run single in the top of the 13th inning to put the Ghouls on top, 4-2. For the game, LeTato had 1 home run and 1 single in 3 at-bats.

Finch Farm 6 at Salem 3
Finch Farm right-hander Matt Pageturner pitched his team to victory over the Salem Witch Hats at Vim! Park of Salem. The final score was 6-3. Pageturner picked up the win for Finch Farm, going 8 innings. He gave up 3 runs on 9 hits. He now sports a record of 7-5. Getting the save was Steve Warwar, his 7th.

The result might have been different, had it not been for Joe Mahaney, the Finch Farm first baseman. Mahaney had a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Four Leafs ahead, 6-3. For the game, Mahaney had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

1 July 2297 - IL: Lady Killers Fall Short, 6-5, at Sunshine Tidings

The Sunshine Tidings Chemists topped the Starlight Lady Killers by a score of 6-5. Leading the way was catcher Fon Traderman. Over 8 innings, he allowed 4 runs on 9 hits, with no walks and 9 strikeouts. Tiny Greene earned the save for Sunshine Tidings, his 8th of the year.

Brightsun Ramos had a timely hit in the bottom of the fifth inning. With one out and runners on 1st and 2nd, the Sunshine Tidings right fielder hit a run-scoring single. That put the Chemists in front, 6-5.

"Getting the win feels nice," said Traderman. "More importantly, I had a good game."

The Chemists raised their record to 16-21.

The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the tenth. With one out, Drinkwater hit a fastball from Marc Pondsip for a run-scoring single. The Gunners, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
