This just occurred to me, and, honestly, I'm not sure if this is accurate or not, so please bear with me...
A player begins an at bat as a base runner, the ball is put into play, there is a base running decision to be made concerning that base runner, I may or may not be given control over that base runner's decision.
A player begins an at bat as the batter, he gets a hit, I am not given control over the batter's (now the base runner's) subsequent decisions.
Do I have that right? In other words, when a batter gets a hit, are his subsequent base running decisions never up to me? I having trouble thinking of a counter example, but I haven't really been paying attention.
