After the success of the NHL in an American market, the league has approved two new expansion teams to begin play in the 1927-28 NHL season.

The Chicago Black Hawks have joined the league! They will be playing in the 6,000 seated Chicago Coliseum.

The other expansion team is the New York Rangers! After seeing the success of the Huskies, Madison Square Garden management decided to look to buy a franchise for itself.

In other news, the Detroit Spartans move to the 11,000 seated Detroit Olympia Arena.

To work around having six american teams, the New York Huskies have agreed to move to the Canadian division.

The league has expanded to 44 games with 6 teams making the playoffs, three from each division.
