if you buy the stand alone (non-steam) you need no connections. entire thing is on your HD. steam can be run offline in one of the settings, but updates and all need a connection.



no demos. the game is pretty deep. feel free to ask for help on the boards if you get overwhelmed. the online manual (you do need to be connected to internet to access that) has a lot of good info.
