Mariners Ship Package to Boston for Betts

The
Seattle Mariners announced a deal with the
Red Sox today, sending 29-year-old RHRP
Tom Wilhelmsen(29 3.5/4*), 22-year-old minor league RHSP
Drew Hutchison(22, 2/2.5*), 23-year-old C/1B
Jesus Montero(23, 2.5*) and 23-year-old minor league C
John Hicks(23, 2.5*) to
Boston.
Wilhelmsen, who served as a closer the last two seasons, was 1-14 3.46 21K in 25 games this season while
Montero mainly served as DH against LHP, batting .301-6-19 .877OPS in 36 games.
Coming back to
Seattle will be the current #3 prospect in baseball, 20-year-old minor league 2B/OF
Mookie Betts(20, 4.5*). It had been talked about for the past few weeks and everything came together late last night. All players are expected to be joining their respective clubs shortly.
Betts, who is a strong baserunner with a great bat, can play second base and the corner outfield spots and is expected to report to AAA Tacoma as soon as possible.
