Well, I give up. Maybe there was an issue, or maybe it followed some logic all its own.
I signed up for my fourth tourney and lo and behold, the random roster from the last tourney was now preloaded. So, I was able to make my adjustments to that one, and it seems to now be staying persistent.
Unless there is some way to review this at the server side, consider this as a closed issue.
