To me, it seems like the issue with the live missions is not the rewards, but the fact that they are so much easier than any other mission it becomes the obvious path to success. In turn, the reason they are so much easier is primarily because of the 70/30 split between live and historical cards. Can ANYONE on here defend that ratio as something that benefits fun gameplay???
(And I'm honestly asking, here... does someone have a good reason for it?)
The ONLY reason I can come up with that someone might think it's a good idea is the argument that it makes the best cards rarer, which then (perhaps) makes people spend more money on getting packs/cards. Personally, I think getting rid of it would make for a far more fun game which in turn would keep more players around and spending money on it.
I'd actually consider dropping FtP and buying points if I had a realistic expectation of seeing a wider variety of cards when I open a pack. I'm tired of the faces of every single iron live player, and I only started playing the game in June.
