Millennial League Baseball, est. 2001
In the mid 1990's, a small group of wealthy men, disillusioned with the Steroid Era baseball of the Major Leagues, began to foster a plan to build their own baseball league. By 2000, their number had grown to 16 and they were ready to play their inaugural season in 2001.
Editor's Note: A very special thanks to txranger, who made most of the uniforms used in the League and the beautiful League logo at the top of the page!
The teams will play 162 games with 14 against each division foe and 8 against teams in the other division. The winners of each division will play a 7 game series for the league championship, called the 'Millennial Cup'.
Here are the teams with their parks and factors:
The owners wanted to add some nostalgia pull to get fans to come to the games, so all of the parks are recreations of old MLB Parks. Carleton County Stadium in Ottawa is a recreation of Milwaukee County Stadium. Providence Stadium is a recreation of Arlington Stadium. Charlotte Municipal Stadium is a recreation of Kansas City Municipal Stadium. Colonels Field is a recreation of Braves Field in Boston. All recreations have modern amenities added, of course.... They wanted to have the Polo Grounds in the League, but it was voted out because of its radical park factors. All parks have a capacity of 30,000.
