2025-26 Owen Sound Attack (Chasing the Memorial Cup)
The 2025-26 Owen Sound Attack are at the quarter mark of the season, time to catch up with the team to see how the current season is going. After a heartbreaking loss in 2024-25 to the Calgary Hitmen in the Memorial Cup final, the Attack try once again to reach their goal. The team is off to a flying start but first, let's catch up on the offseason moves and there were plenty of them.
2025 OHL Draft Priority Selection Picks
1-20 - Conner Sarjeant LW 5'11" 198
3-41 - Taylor Gilmore LW 6'6" 212
3-60 - Shane Sinclair LW 6'2" 204
4-80 - Agdun Orru LW 5'9" 163
5-100 - Jordan Locke RD 5'11" 196
6-120 - Dylan Aspeslet RD 6'0" 183
7-140 - Richie Davenport LW 6'2" 186
8-160 - Daniel Wheeler RD 6'2" 186
9-180 - Michael Kane RW 6'1" 207
10-200 - Brandon Egener C 5'11" 162
14-280 - Jesse Maynard C 5'10 164
2025 CHL Import Picks
1-58 - Jakub Beran (CZE) 16yrs LW 5'10 164
2-120 - Andreas Porkka (FIN) 17yrs C 6'5" 233
Sarjeant, Gilmore and Sinclair will all see some action in 2025 with Owen Sound. Orru, Locke and Aspeslet are likely players for the future. Beran looks like he has some serious skill but with the 2 player foreign limit it will be tough to bring him over this season.
With a glut of players at LW and some holes in our lineup, we looked to make a few trades in the offseason.
Trades
To NB: Sloan Holroyd (18 yrs LW), 5th round pick, 12th round pick
To OS: Isaiah Pitcairn G (19 yrs G)
To SAG: Alessandro Accardo (17 yrs LW), 5th round pick, 8th round pick
To OS: Ron Brice (17 yrs C)
To LDN: Richie Davenport (16 yrs LW) (rights), 2nd round pick
To OS: Justin Stellick (16 yrs G), 4th round pick
Current Injuries
Mark Dietrich - out 3-4 months with torn calf muscle
Louis-Charles Landry - out 2-3 weeks with broken hand (has missed all of season so far)
Gunner Schoenroth - out day-to-day with foot contusion
Tomas Marsalek - out day-to-day with groin tightness
Also missing from lineup is Conner Sarjeant who is over playing for Canada at the U17's.
Despite key losses from last years squad, Owen Sound is off to a hot start, torching teams with their offensive prowess. Amazingly enough, goalie Andrey Misin has not lost a regular season OHL game in regulation time yet in his career. He is 31-0-2 in 35 regular season appearances. Cameron Sigrist, Matt MacDermid, Wade Chalmers, Connor Quinn and newcomer Tomas Marsalek have been leading the way, along with currently injured Mark Dietrich and Gunner Schoenroth. Marsalek was our 1st round pick (57th overall) in the 2024 CHL Import Draft who decided to come to Canada after dominating the Czech junior leagues.
When healthy, Owen Sound is proving tough to stop, simply annihilating the opposition thus far.
Both expansion teams, the Brantford 99ers and Milton Steamers are currently holding down playoff positions in their conferences. We will see if this success continues throughout the season.
